Our Story

Engineers & Merchants Energy was established with a clear mandate: to build a diversified energy company capable of serving the full spectrum of Nigeria's and Africa's energy needs. From the outset, we set out to be more than a petroleum marketing company. We envisioned an organization that could explore, refine, distribute, generate, and invest, all with the rigour, integrity, and ambition that modern energy demands. Today, we operate across petroleum marketing, oil and gas services, infrastructure engineering, electricity generation and distribution, logistics, and strategic investment. Our portfolio spans upstream and downstream activities, renewable and conventional energy, and advisory services that help other businesses grow. We are registered and fully compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements, and we take our responsibilities to our clients, partners, communities, and environment seriously.

Our founding objectives reflect the full breadth of our ambition:

To market and distribute all varieties of petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, kerosene, cooking gas, engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and gear oils, alongside full logistics services.
To engage across the entire oil and gas value chain — from upstream exploration to downstream refining and distribution of both petroleum and industrial gas products.
To construct and operate refineries, filling stations, pipelines, oil rigs, and all related infrastructure required to process and deliver petroleum products.
To supply and manage oil tankers, drilling equipment, vessels, and all machinery required to support energy operations.
To generate, transmit, and distribute electricity from diverse sources including solar, wind, gas, coal, heat, and nuclear energy.
To provide investment services, facility management, joint ventures, and strategic advisory to high-value commercial ventures.
